General Dentistry

Dental treatments help maintain the health of your teeth and gums, prevent problems in the future, and fix common dental issues.

Checkup - Oral Health Assessment And X-Rays

During an exam, your dentist will examine your teeth, looking for any cavities or issues. Additionally, they will also look at your gums, tongue, the sides of your cheeks, and the rest of your mouth. Some exams may include dental x-rays.

Fillings (Teeth Rebuilding)

A dental filling is a restorative procedure done to repair a tooth that is decayed, chipped, cracked, or broken. However, most commonly, general dentists perform it for patients who have cavities. Dental fillings can be made of gold, ceramic, silver amalgam, or composite resin.

Composite resins (white filling): These are a newer material used for dental fillings and are preferred over amalgam fillings for a couple reasons. They look the same colour as your teeth, and do not expand and contract or damage teeth, like metal fillings.
However, they are just as strong and durable as metal fillings.

Glass ionomer: This material acts more like a sealant than the composite resins and is opaque.

Resin-modified glass ionomer: This is similar to the glass ionomer, but have an enamel colour to better match teeth, and is made to last longer.

General Root Fillings

Root canal therapy is needed when the dental pulp and nerve of a tooth are affected by decay or infection. In order to save the tooth, the pulp (the living tissue inside the tooth), nerves, bacteria, and any decay are removed and the resulting space is filled with special, medicated dental materials, which restore the tooth to its full function. Our dental team will ensure that your root canal therapy is as painless and comfortable as possible. If specialized root filling is  required, you will be referred to a specialist.

Crowns

A crown is a covering that encases the entire tooth surface, restoring it to its original shape and size. A dental crown protects and strengthens tooth structure that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of dental restorations. A dental crown is used to:
  • Strengthen a broken or fractured tooth
  • Enhance the beauty of your smile
  • Support a large or fractured dental filling, especially when little original tooth structure remains
  • Protect a tooth following root canal therapy
  • Restore a significantly decayed or damaged tooth
  • Attach a dental bridge
Dental crowns can be created from a variety of materials, including gold, porcelain fused to metal, resin, and porcelain. Resin and porcelain crowns are popular because of their tooth-colored appearance. With a resin or porcelain dental crown no one will even notice that you have a crown.

Dentures

We fit high-quality, custom-made dentures to restore your smile. Dentures are removable oral appliances used to replace multiple missing teeth and improve the health, function, and appearance of your smile. There are two main types of dentures: complete and partial. Complete dentures (also known as full dentures) are used when all of the teeth in the upper and/or lower jaw are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. A partial denture not only fills in the spaces created by missing teeth, but also prevents the remaining teeth from shifting. Dentures can benefit your smile by:
  • Replacing several or all of the teeth in the mouth
  • Enhancing your facial volume and shape
  • Improving your digestion, speech, and ability to chew
  • Restoring the beauty of your smile
We ensure that your dentures fit comfortably, securely, and aesthetically. Dentures are created from artificial teeth, which are placed in a gum-colored base. Modern dentures look and feel similar to natural teeth and gum tissue, so you can feel confident speaking, eating, smiling, and laughing in front of others.
